GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Clinic Support Specialist will perform clerical and administrative duties to support effective and efficient operations of Portland Gastroenterology Center’s Provider Professional Clinic and its functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include any or all the following:

  • Patient check-out
  • Post-procedure written communication
  • Schedule reconciliation with external institutions (e.g. Maine Medical Center)
  • Record requests
  • Special assignments or projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent; or
  • Two years’ related experience and/or training; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Active BLS certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will typically be in a clinic setting. This position’s physical demands include, but are not limited to:

  • standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
  • There will be extended periods of sitting required when performing administrative tasks and while attending meetings.
  • There will be extended periods of standing required when performing direct patient care.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The nature of the position may expose the Clinic Support Specialist to moderate levels of tension when dealing with issues. The level of tension is usually moderate, with high levels of tension occurring occasionally.

COMPENSATION

Pay Grade: 21

Minimum: $19.55/hour

Midpoint: $23.46/hour

Maximum: $27.37

Compensation is commensurate with experience, education, and certification (if appropriate)

EMPLOYEE EXPOSURE DETERMINATION – Category A

Per OSHA Regulations, any employee whose position classification falls into either Category A or B will be offered the Hepatitis B vaccination.
