With a team of nearly 180 dedicated professionals, we are committed to excellence in patient care, continuous learning, and a culture that values every member of our team.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced, organized, and people-focused Call Center Trainer to join our Clinical Communications team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to resource for our Patient Service Representatives (PSRs): guiding new hires through onboarding, developing training materials, and helping your teammates deliver the best possible patient experience every day. This is a hands-on role that blends training with active participation in call center operations.
What You’ll Do
- Train and onboard new Patient Service Representatives, covering scheduling workflows, system navigation, and call handling protocols.
- Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, and workflow documentation to keep the team sharp and operations consistent.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback through observation and real-time workflow guidance.
- Handle inbound patient service calls alongside your team, triaging and scheduling according to established protocols.
- Serve as the team’s first stop for workflow questions, process clarification, and day-to-day support.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Communications Supervisor on training strategy and continuous improvement.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience at Portland Gastroenterology Center (required); two or more years preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; we need someone who is patient, a clear communicator, and genuinely enjoy helping others learn.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and stay organized in a busy call center environment.
- Comfort working with scheduling systems and electronic health record platforms (experience with gGastro/ModMed a plus).
- A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to PGC’s values of accountability, compassion, excellence, integrity, inclusion, and sustainability.
Compensation
- The minimum pay rate for this position is $25.68/hour, and the maximum is $27.90/hour.
- Pay will be commensurate with education, skills, and experience.
Why Portland Gastroenterology Center?
- Be part of Maine’s leading GI specialty practice — a team that takes pride in the care we deliver.
- A supportive, team-oriented culture where your contributions are recognized.
- Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
