Backup Clinical Research Coordinator

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for clinical research? Join Portland Gastroenterology Center as our Backup Clinical Research Coordinator, where you’ll play a key role in supporting our research department and advancing patient care through innovative studies.
About the Role
As the Backup Clinical Research Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing various administrative and clinical functions within our Clinical Research department when the primary Clinical Research Coordinator is unable to do so. This position involves coordinating research studies, ensuring compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for study participants and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively pre-screen and enroll patients into research studies in collaboration with Principal Investigators and the Program Coordinator.
- Schedule study assessments and coordinate patient appointments.
- Collect, retain, and submit clinical data securely and in the required format.
- Perform clinical procedures as needed for study protocols.
- Communicate effectively with investigators, sponsors, research participants, and internal/external colleagues.
- Manage all aspects of research studies, ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patient education regarding study participation.
- Assist with special projects and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in gastroenterology.
- Preferred: 3+ years in gastroenterology with at least 1 year of experience in clinical research.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Active Maine Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS certification (required).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a clinical or office setting.
- Requires periods of standing, sitting, walking, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and bending.
- Exposure to moderate levels of tension and occasional high-stress situations.
- OSHA Category A: Employees in this role will be offered Hepatitis B vaccination.
Compensation
Pay grade: 28
- Minimum: $29.40
- Maximum: $37.58
Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and training.
